Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex on the sixth day of my period and I had an unwanted-72 pill four days after that. I again had my period three to four days earlier, which was a little lighter than usual and lasted for four days. Recently I have been experiencing tightness in my lower abdomen and it is a little bit swollen, though there are no other symptoms or any pain, what could be the reason? Could this be pregnancy? Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your case and I understand your concern. As per your description, you had intercourse on your safe day so there was no need for an emergency contraceptive pill. If there was no intercourse after your periods then there is no chance of getting pregnant. Slight bleeding could be because of the pill, no need to worry about that. But you should not take an emergency contraceptive pill unnecessarily as it may affect your menstrual cycle. The pain or tightness could be psychological. If there is pain you can take a tablet of Zerodol (Serratiopeptidase, Aceclofenac, and Paracetamol) or Spas (Dicyclomine and Mefenamic acid) otherwise no need for any interventions. I hope this information helps you. Feel free to ask further queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello Doctor As I asked you earlier about my situation I am bleeding again from last night after my periods on 20th April which lasted till 24 th April which is after 10 days of my last periods, I didn't had any kind of intercourse after 5th April. What could be the reason? Could this be because my periods was a little lighter the last time and so it is happening again?
hello Pragya, no there shouldn't be a pregnancy... was there intercourse in the month of March? contraceptive pill may cause intermenstrual bleeding... for safety do urine pregnancy test... but i think this is because of hormonal imbalance... if such bleeding is occurring consequently then you should do USG pelvis scan, thyroid profile and CBC to rule out any pathalogy... right now no intervention needed, just check urine pregnancy test... thank you!

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
