Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Previously, when I used to take a tablet Sildenafil - 50 mg, it usually worked for me and gave the best result. But for three to four months, it is not providing satisfactory results. When I take this tablet, it shows an abnormal heartbeat and creates heaviness in the chest. It is also not helping me with erection. Please share your suggestions.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your concerns in detail and will surely help you out. First of all, I want to make this concept clear in your mind that the tablet Sildenafil - 50mg is for occasional use. This medicine is helpful to patients for acute treatment, i.e., for short-term periods. It is to buy some time to investigate the patient's issues. E.g., For a patient who comes with erectile dysfunction, we will give the tablet Sildenafil for a week and meanwhile get all the blood work to find out the cause of erectile dysfunction. Once the diagnosis is made, tablet Sildenafil is stopped, and appropriate treatment is given.

Secondly, tablet Sildenafil is like tobacco or alcohol. Initially, it will produce good results, but later, you will develop tolerance and require higher doses to produce the same effect. That is why 50mg was initially good, and now it is not working. Tablet Sildenafil has actions on the heart and is used for heart patients, that is why you have increased heart rate. I suggest avoiding tablet Sildenafil and visiting your local physician for further investigations and management. You can use SSRI (Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors drugs) instead of tablet Sildenafil for further improvement in your health issues.

Hope this helps.
