Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have done weight lifting for the past 10 years. I have been using some steroids for the last few years. I used to get minimal side effects in my sex life. But those side effects usually go away within a few weeks. The last time I used steroids was three months ago. However, I am having issues in my sex life still. They include very low sex drive and difficulty maintaining an erection. I used some test boosters and it did help a bit. But when I stopped them, I was back to zero. The main issue is my very low sex drive. I used to love it and enjoy it previously, but not anymore. I was wondering what blood tests could help. Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Welcome to Icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

From your description, it appears that you have erectile dysfunction (ED). But you have also been using steroids. Sometimes ED is psychological and goes away when the stress is over. Try to relax and de-stress by practicing yoga and meditation. Do not stress, as it can only make matters worse.

I would suggest you do the following tests:

1. 24-hour urinary free cortisol.

2. Serum testosterone (early morning on two different days).

3. FSH (follicle stimulating hormone).

4. LH (luteinizing hormone).

5. Serum TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone).

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
