Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My friend is 25 years old. He suffers from severe anxiety as he failed his competitive exams for getting a government job. He prepared for this exam for a year. But he failed now. He is not happy and hates eating food. He is also not speaking to anyone in his family. Does he suffer from severe anxiety and stress? How to help him to come out of stress?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Your friend may have acute stress. You need to tell him to follow the lifestyle mentioned below to deal with his stress.

1. He must learn to move on from his failure. He must learn from it, but it is not the end.

2. He needs to work on his weakness or weak subject and improve it.

3. He must take the help of a proper audience of seniors or colleagues for next year's exam preparation.

4. Do not do hard work but do smart work.

5. He should exercise daily for 30 to 45 minutes, like at least going for a walk.

6. He should do meditation for 20 minutes daily by just sitting in one place in a comfortable position and trying to concentrate on his normal breathing. He should not stop or force himself to stop his thoughts, just let it be.

7. He should eat healthy home-cooked foods, and avoid junk foods.

8. He must drink enough water.

9. He should spend quality time with friends and family daily. Do not allow him to isolate.

10. He should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills, language, or musical instruments.

11. He should take enough 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily.

12. He must avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.

Give him a reason to live his life and not just spend it.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please, let me know if you want some help.

Thank you.
