Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My son is three months old and has had a fever since yesterday. I have given Crocin 0.6 ml every six hours. Fever gets controlled by Crocin. Today we showed him to the pediatrician. The doctor suggested Wikoryl 0.4 ml three times in eight hours gap and Crocin with six hours gap, but now I am confused as I can see Wikoryl already contained Paracetamol. So what should I do now?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I suggest you do not give Wikoryl (Chlorpheniramine and Paracetamol) and Crocin together. Please check the temperature with a thermometer. There is no need to provide Paracetamol with antibiotics if the temperature is below 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature is 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more, you can give drops of Crocin 100 mg per 0.6 ml for four to six hours. If the temperature is 102 degrees Fahrenheit, you can provide syrup Ibugesic plus (Ibuprofen) 1 ml for six to eight hours. Suppose the temperature stays 100 degrees Fahrenheit above for more than three days or crosses 103 degrees Fahrenheit. In that case, it is advisable to get evaluated physically by a pediatrician with possible blood investigations based on physical examination.

I hope this information will help.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

But should I give Wikoryl only? And if he gets a fever, after how much time should I give him Crocin again?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

No Wikoryl (Chlorpheniramine and Paracetamol) is not recommended, as you will not be able to keep track of the fever. As mentioned in the previous answer, Crocin can be repeated every four to six hours if needed. If a fever occurs in the middle of that, do sponging to bring down the fever.

I hope this information will help.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
