Could flu-like symptoms along with thick mucus during coughing be indicative of HIV?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been uncertain about whether I have HIV as I experience flu-like symptoms intermittently. However, I have never had a sore throat or swollen nodes. I do not feel fatigued, and the mucus is usually thick whenever I cough. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

Based on your symptoms of a productive cough, it seems you may have an upper respiratory tract infection. I want to emphasize that I do not suspect HIV (human immunodeficiency virus).

I suggest you the following medication regimen:

  1. Tablet Acetaminophen 500 mg, to be taken orally, three times a day.

  2. Tablet Metronidazole 400 mg, to be taken orally, three times a day.

  3. Capsule Co-Amoxiclav 625 mg, consisting of Amoxicillin 500 mg and Clavulanic acid (as Potassium clavulanate) 125 mg, to be taken orally twice a day.

  4. Tablet Ketoconazole 200 mg, to be taken orally, once daily.

  5. Tablet Acyclovir 800 mg, to be taken orally, once daily.

I hope this helps. Consult your doctor and take the medicines.

Revert in case of other queries.

    Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
