Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a PFA and a full body checkup. I have attached the report. Please guide me to understand it.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity). There are a few things which need to be addressed. Your Serum folate is low so you will need supplements for the same. I suggest you take tablet Folik (Folic acid) 5mg every third day. Vitamin D is low. I suggest you take vitamin D supplements. Capsule Lumia 60K (Cholecalciferol) weekly for eight weeks.

Vitamin B12 is also low. I suggest you take Methylcobalamin tablets daily for two weeks. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take the above medicines with their consent. Your GFR (glomerular filtration rate) is 82 and serum creatinine is 1.2 which is although in a normal range will need to be followed every six months to avoid painkillers and monitor blood pressure regularly.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Thank you for the quick response. I will follow the above medications from now. I am in process of getting married soon and that is the reason I went for the test. Please let me know if there is anything from the reports to be addressed. Apart from above tests, I have done HIV 1 and 2, VDRL and other tests which are normal. Serum folate is low because of vitamin B deficiency? Serum creatinine is high and GFR is low. Is it so because of drinking less water? Will my blood pressure increase? Overall other results are normal. Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Vitamin B12 and vitamin D and folic acid are low so you need to take supplements as advised. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicines with their consent. There is no significant abnormality in your investigations for which you should worry. Yes, the amount of fluids and avoiding medications like painkillers can protect damage to kidneys.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
