Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had unprotected sex with my partner a week before, and I am facing a problem that is I am urinating continuously and facing unbearable itching after urinating. I am scared thinking if I am pregnant. Please help me out.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Increased frequency of urination and itching are not suggestive of pregnancy, and this means that you have acquired infection after unprotected sexual intercourse. So, I suggest you take Tablet Fluconazole 150 mg single dose and syrup Citralka (Disodium hydrogen citrate) two teaspoons twice daily for three days. This will help you.

To confirm whether unprotected sexual intercourse will lead to pregnancy or not, you can get a blood test done, that is, serum beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophins) levels.

This starts coming positive eight to nine days after intercourse, so get it done in the next one to two days to rule out pregnancy.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

We had sex without any protection, but as per my partner’s knowledge, he said he was 100 % sure that the sperm did not enter inside, but I was really scared. We had sex five times in two days, so I am scared. Please help.

The only thing you can do is get a blood test done to rule out pregnancy.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

What about testing in a pregnancy test kit?

Answered by Dr. Natasha Bansal

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Testing with a urine pregnancy kit available on the market can be done after 13 days of unprotected sexual intercourse. It does not come positive in seven to eight days. So for that, you need to wait for one more week.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I will get the blood test done and will attach the reports for review.
