Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have skin problem that looks like a fungal infection, and my doctor has prescribed an antifungal medication. I also have stomach problems like constipation and diarrhea (with painful cramps). My blood report and endoscopy with sigmoidoscopy are normal.

I want to know whether this fungal infection is causing my stomach problem. If I take an antifungal drug like Fluconazole, will it also cure the stomach infection? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It may be fungal, but the possibility is rare for an immunocompetent individual. To confirm, it is best to get a full blood count and stool routine microscopic examination done. If test results are normal, then it is not fungal. Are the abdominal cramps relieved by defecation? If yes, and if you have no other symptoms, then it is likely Irritable bowel syndrome.

Let me know if other symptoms like blood in stool, mucous in stool, or low-grade fever develop. But, for now, get the tests done.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for visiting icliniq.com.

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
