Why am I having red itchy patches on groin area?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Red itchy patches on the groin area all the way spread around the anus and thigh. Tried treating it with camphor mixed with coconut oil first. Then, I used Cosvate GM, Ketoclean, and Keto soap. It has worsened.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You have tinea corporis or cruris, which is also known as ringworm or fungal infection. Kindly stop using the earlier medicines. You should take capsule Itraconazole 100 mg twice a day for 3 weeks. Also, take a tablet of Cetirizine 10 mg at night to relieve the itching. Also, apply Luliconazole or Sertaconazole or Eberconazole cream twice a day. Kindly take a bath twice a day. This will help clean the sweat on the body, which helps fungus grow. Also, as you are a diabetic, you have to maintain your sugar levels. Fungal infection is very common in uncontrolled diabetes. Kindly consult your doctor and take medicines accordingly.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert back in case of further queries.

Thank you.
