Why is my penis top red with a white pimple?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My penis top is red with a white pimple. I used Mupirocin ointment four months back. Then again the doctor gave Betnovate RD a month back and I used it three times. Now, my skin looks very dry and ugly. The redness has reduced but the skin looks abnormal.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have attached the picture. It is mostly in the middle.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read and understand your concern.

I have reviewed the attached photographs (attachment removed to protect patient identity). I can appreciate slight redness and dryness on the penile skin. I would recommend you apply topical steroid and antifungal combination cream like Clotrimazole and Beclomethasone (Zydip C cream or Candid B cream) on the affected areas twice daily for two weeks. This will resolve your problem.

Looking forward to your response in order to help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Before four days, it was red. Is it candida balanitis? Now, some area is red. I have never seen this in my whole life. What is the reason for this?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read and understand your concern.

Yeast infection is very common in diabetics, persons on long-term antibiotics and can be transmitted sexually from an infected partner. I would recommend you apply Sertaconazole cream on the affected areas twice daily for two weeks.

Looking forward to your response in order to help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Today in the affected areas, there is a slight burning sensation. It is dry but red from inside.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read and understand your concern.

I have reviewed the newly attached photographs (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It is looking like a mild yeast infection, nothing serious. It seems to be slightly better than the previous pictures. As I told you already, it can be transmitted sexually, but there are other causes as well like diabetes, poor hygiene, and patients on long-term antibiotics and immunosuppressants. Do not worry as it will take time to settle. Go for protected intercourse till the time it settles. Continue with Sertaconazole cream for at least two weeks.

Looking forward to your response in order to help you.

Thank you.
