Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have three questions.
1. Can cytomegalovirus and Epstein Barr virus cause genital ulcers?
2. My immunoglobulins were low for IgM at 25 and high for IgE at 151. Could there be anything to worry?
I am sending a picture of something that appeared in my mouth. Could that be candidiasis? I have been on antibiotics for 15 days.
Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through the attachments (attachment removed to protect patient identity). With your descriptions and the picture attached, it seems you have candidiasis or oral lichen planus. The CMV (cytomegalovirus) and EBV (Epstein-Barr virus) both do not cause genital ulcers but EBV or CMV shedding could occur in genital areas. IgE (immunoglobulin E) indicates an allergic response to our body. An IgE is called high when it is in thousands.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
