Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
During my regular check-ups, I have noticed high levels of creatinine in my blood reports. The e-Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) has decreased from 64 to 59 since my last assessment. Although I have not experienced any specific symptoms related to these findings, I am uncertain if these results indicate a cause for worry or necessitate further medical intervention.
I am currently taking Alfuzosin 10 mg tablets to manage a prostate gland condition. During a recent consultation, my doctor mentioned that this medication could potentially impact sexual drive. Consequently, I have noticed a decrease in my libido, but I am unsure whether this change is solely attributed to the medication or if other factors may be contributing.
I kindly request your professional assessment of the following:
Kindly help.

Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
Based on the information provided, it appears that your creatinine level is only slightly elevated and there is no evidence of protein or blood leakage in the urine, which is positive. The exact cause for the increased creatinine is not clear based on the tests conducted thus far. However, it is possible that it could be related to incomplete bladder emptying, for which you have been advised to take medication by the urologist.
It is important to assess any potential factors that may contribute to the elevated creatinine level. One factor to consider is the use of pain medications or alternative treatments, as these can sometimes impact kidney function. Additionally, any changes in weight since the previous tests should be taken into account.
In order to gather further information and monitor your kidney function, I recommend undergoing additional tests, including a repeat check of creatinine. Since it has been approximately three months since the last measurement, a current evaluation would provide a more up-to-date understanding of your kidney function.
Please follow up for further assistance.
Thank you.

Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for your reply.
Following your guidance, I underwent the recommended tests, and I have attached the corresponding report. Currently, I am not undergoing any pain treatment or alternative therapies, with the exception of Alfusin (Uroxatral) for prostate issues. Additionally, I am taking supplements including resveratrol, milk thistle, and fish oil. I occasionally consume three to four alcoholic drinks over the weekends (3 days). Considering my remote work situation, physical activity has been limited to my home environment. Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Your creatinine level is better and other reports are all normal (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity). No additional treatment is required at present. I am not sure of the effects of resveratrol and milk thistle on the kidneys. My advice would be to stop them as there is no other cause for increased creatinine. You should do some physical activity. Alfusin (Uroxatral) may be the cause of low sexual drive and you can discuss with the urologist regarding it.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
