Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My father has glaucoma problem. Presently, he is using Xalacom eye drops but still does not have any changes. Please, I would like you to advise any other drugs to manage his case.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand that your father is suffering from glaucoma and has been prescribed drops for the same. You have mentioned that there are no changes. What changes are you exactly referring to? I will try to explain the essentials of glaucoma treatment to you so that you will be in a better position to understand how the treatment works. Glaucoma is also a long draw out disease and a permanent cure may not be possible in a matter of a few days or months. Depending on the type of glaucoma, patients may have to be monitored twice a year for several years. Treatment also has a very strict and systematic approach and the doctors are not at liberty to make sudden changes if the patient's progress does not demand so. Progression or disease worsening can only be measured by visual field tests. My advice to you is to faithfully comply with your doctors advise and do not skip the eyedrops dosage. Visit your doctor for follow up as and when instructed. You should see your doctor emergently in the following circumstances like if the eye becomes red or severe pain or drop in vision, headache, vomiting, seeing colored halos.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
