Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been losing my hair for the last few months, which I never had before, and now I can see my scalp. I do not know why it is happening. I am just in my twenties, and even my father still has healthy hair. I am currently taking Regaine Minoxidil 5%. Kindly help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Better assessment can be done by sharing the picture of your front hairline and answering the following questions. Do you smoke? Are you taking any gym supplements? Do you have any health issues, or are you on any medications? Were you sick in the last few months? Are you a vegetarian?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

No, I have been using Regaine Minoxidil (five percent) only for the past two weeks, twice a day. I have never smoked, and I do not have any health issues. And I am a vegetarian.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I saw the pictures attached (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity); I would have liked to see your front hair line too. You seem to lose hair mainly from the top of your head in a circular area. This is mainly because of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which causes thinning of the hair in that area. Taking Minoxidil is fine, but I suggest you apply one ml of Minoxidil 5% and Finasteride 0.1% combination topical lotion on the dry, oil-free scalp. I also suggest you check your vitamin B12, vitamin D, ferritin, and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
