Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a sudden hearing loss. I can hear blood pumping like pulsating in my right ear with lots of pain. Previously, I had a stroke, TIA, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, bipolar disorder, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia. Currently, I am taking Amitriptyline 50 mg at night, Atorvastatin 40 mg at night, Clopidogrel 75 mg in a day, Cholecalciferol 20,000 unit a week, Creon 10000 two tablets three times a day, Gabapentin 300 mg three times a day, Lansoprazole 30 mg a day, Montelukast 10 mg a day, Promethazine 50 mg at night, Ramipril 2.5 mg a day, Venflaxine 300 mg a day and Zapain 30/500 mg two tablets four times a day.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

A sudden sensorineural hearing loss is a medical emergency and it has to be evaluated and treated accordingly. Treatment taken after 48 hours will not produce desirable results even after taking the full course of treatment. Hence it is important to take treatment immediately. There are many reasons for having this issue and the common reasons are sudden vascular compromise, viral infection, and autoimmune or endocrine disorder. In this condition, blanket treatment can be taken with steroids (either intratympanic or intravenous), antivirals, plasma expanders, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and correction of endocrine pathology can be done. There is absolutely nothing to be worried about. I suggest you seek urgent medical therapy and have a hearing evaluation as soon as possible.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
