Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have hemoptysis.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Hemoptysis is referred to as blood in the sputum or cough.

If you are having such symptoms the following workup is recommended:

  1. Chest X-ray (PA).
  2. Complete blood count and ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).

If you have already done a chest X-ray, do upload the images. Also, do you have any other symptoms like weight loss, low-grade fever, history of trauma or breathlessness, history of smoking, etc.?

Please follow up with above details.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached the file.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your chest radiograph (attachment removed to protect patient identity) shows a moderate-sized thin-walled lucent cavity in the right mid zone. No surrounding areas of consolidation or infiltrates are seen. Rest of the lung parenchyma is normal.

Above features could represent (in order of significance):

  1. Pulmonary infections.
  2. Cavitatory malignancy like bronchogenic carcinoma.
  3. Autoimmune granulomas.
  4. Pneumatocele.

In view of the chest findings, I would recommend a high-resolution CT (with contrast) of the chest on urgent basis. If you have more doubts please feel free to discuss.

Take care.

I hope this helps.

Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
