Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had oral sex with an escort two months back and developed a rash on my arm, ulcers in my mouth, sore throat, and swollen glands. My blood count is dropping. Platelets were 300x109/L but are now 125x109/L, neutrophils were 7x109/L but are now 3x109/L, and lymphocytes were 2x109/L but are now 1x109/L. I recently learned that I contracted the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) six months ago. Four months following my encounter, I underwent an EBV test; the findings were negative. Three months later, I also had an HIV test, and the results were negative. Are EBV and AIDS related? I think I have lymphoma because I cannot stop itching, and I occasionally get rashes. I have got red spots on the front of my tongue. Does an HIV-DNA PCR test look for the virus? Is that an early test? Can HIV antibodies develop in late-stage AIDS? Could the escort have different HIV strains that led to the quick progression of my disease? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

Types 1 and 2 of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) are recognized. Your CD4 (cluster of differentiation 4) count is more than 500 cells/mm3. Where is your HIV report? You indicated that the result was negative but that you had numerous symptoms and a low CD4 level. With all the symptoms, the test cannot be negative. The risk of contracting HIV is minimal if the HIV-DNA PCR test is negative. I suggest you the following:

  1. Increase your immunity by consuming a high-protein diet containing vegetable or animal protein.

  2. Consume a high-fibrous diet.

  3. Consume more citrus fruits like lemon, orange, kiwi, gooseberry, and blueberry. They help increase platelet count and boost immunity.

  4. Undergo DNA PCR (deoxyribonucleic acid polymerase chain reaction) test for diagnosing HIV.

I suggest you take the necessary steps to increase your CD4 count to over 700 cells/mm3. As your immunity increases, your CD4 count will also increase. Since your test time is accurate and the HIV test report is negative, the possibility of HIV infection is low. Consult an ENT (Ear, nose, throat) specialist for ulcers on the tongue, redness, and sore throat. You must test for HCV (Hepatitis C) 1 and 2, sexually transmitted diseases like chlamydia and gonorrhea. This disease can also produce similar clinical symptoms. You can also use CMIA (Chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay) 4th generation test kit for detecting HIV, as they are 100 % accurate.

I hope this will help you.

    Thank you.
