What are the chances of getting HIV through a hand job?
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 30-year-old male. I did a handjob and made contact with a woman's nipple during intercourse. I have been concerned about HIV because the next day, I developed a sore throat and a nose infection. I had a doctor friend who said it was sinusitis, and he gave me tablets, which worked well, and after a month, some sores appeared on the top of my tongue. Is it related to HIV? What about my symptoms on the second day? I had done an HIV ELISA and antibody test after 42 days; the result was 0.06 negative. What are the chances of getting the human immunodeficiency virus through a hand job and touching the nipple? Please advise.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
The chances of transmission of the HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) by an unprotected hand job and nipple contact as described is less unless there are bleeding wounds on the hand. So the chances of transmission of the human immunodeficiency virus by the given descriptions are almost nil. The HIV test shows negative results after 42 days of exposure, which is a good sign. Hence, the probability of later human immunodeficiency virus tests becoming positive is very low. But it would be better to go for a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) antibody test after three months of exposure to be relieved of anxiety and obtain conclusive results. The symptoms are nonspecific and can be due to any respiratory infection, to contact with any person.
Please follow up for further assistance.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for your reply. Are ELISA and antibody tests after 42 days relatable? Can I resume my family life, or should I wait for three months to start my family life? What is the chance of my test accuracy after 42 days?
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Thank you for the follow up query .It is considered almost conclusive.
But it is better to go for HIV antibodies test after 3 months of exposure for conclusive results and be relieved of anxiety totally. The chances of HIV tests coming positive later is almost nil.
You can take a call about family life.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you. I have taken the HIV duo CMIA (Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immuno Assay ) 4th generation test again after 60 days of unprotected hand jobs and nipple touching. I took this test because I had a sore throat, diarrhea, and mouth ulcer. I have attached the report, and they said it is negative, and its value is confusing. Can you explain it because I cannot understand the values? I had already taken the HIV ELFA (enzyme-linked fluorescence assay) test on day 42, and it was also 0.06 negative. Do I need another test or not? Please answer. Is the CMIA test reliable?
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
The HIV test negative results is almost conclusive. The chances of HIV tests coming positive later is almost nil. ELFA (enzyme-linked fluoroscence assay) test is a very sensitive test. But better go for HIV antibodies test after three months exposure to be relieved of anxiety totally and conclusive results.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thanks again. What about the 60-day CMIA 4th generation antigen and antibody test being negative? What about the CMIA 4th generation antigen and antibody test on the 60th day? They said it was negative 0.22. Can you explain the values?
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
It is almost conclusive. As said earlier, go for a test after three months of exposure. Once negative, there is no need to worry about the values. It is negative.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thanks for the reply.
What are my chances of becoming positive after 90 days? Is the 4th generation test conclusive after 45 days? Why are more tests necessary?
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
The chances of HIV tests coming positive later are almost nil. It is considered conclusive after the HIV antibodies test three months of exposure is negative.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
