Hi doctor,
I bought a trainer watch to monitor my bpm and calories burned because I started exercising at home by doing fast dancing. I am 36, height 5'1, and weigh 150 lbs. My goal is to lose 20 pounds in two months. I have done two days of workout, and the calories I have burned are the following: Day One: 1.07 hours of workout shows I burned 907 calories. Day two: 50 min workout shows I burned 700 calories. The trainer said that if I wanted to be generous to shave off 100 from that, I would technically burn 807 and 600 calories if I do. I have a friend that works out who states that those numbers are unrealistic and that it is impossible to burn so much. I make salsa, merengue, and soca music, which are all fast. Are the numbers that unrealistic? I feel great after the workouts, I sweat a lot, and I am getting my energy back, which ultimately matters, but I do want to burn calories.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
On average, a woman needs 2000 calories intake in a day; if you minus the energy expenditure by your daily work out 1400 calories, that is pretty good; but if you mean you are aiming to lose weight, then work out and diet have to go hand in hand, I want to congratulate you that you are doing an excellent job by working out and burning calories. However, I wish to suggest you, for dynamic visual change in your body weight, start consuming a protein diet, like the white egg in breakfast, lunch, more boiled or grilled chicken and fish. Carbohydrates consumption should be only two percent per day (negligible), avoiding sugar. Diet contributes more than exercise; your body is what you eat.
It would be helpful if you take diet and exercise hand in hand.
Kind regards.
