Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My TSH level is 3.85 uIU/ml, whereas my T4 (Free) is 1.01 ng/dl. I have been notified by a cardiologist that my TSH level is abnormal, and the new ideal range was changed to 0.3-3.0 since 12 years, where it looks like all my problems are due to this issue. I have checked the internet and saw that it had been changed in the western countries. If it is my problem, could you please write a prescription for Thyroxine?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thanks for reporting the thyroid function test reports. I am very happy that you are taking good care of your health with up-to-date knowledge and appropriate concern. I agree with the cardiologist that the normal level of TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is below 3.0 to the National Academy of Clinical Biochemists (NACB). Even if we follow other guidelines like the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and Hanford, treating hypothyroidism in your case is very important. You might be aware that people with anxiety and depression with a higher normal level of TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) do well when they are supplemented with Thyroxine. The theory behind it is subclinical hypothyroidism responsible for their symptoms of depression and anxiety. By subclinical hypothyroidism, I mean that there is hypothyroidism, but no clinical changes are evident. As you said, many of your symptoms are related to hypothyroidism; that is why I was repeatedly insisted on the thyroid tests. I am sending the prescription through the consultation portal so you can download it and buy it from the market.
Thanks.
