Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had sex 15 days ago. However, my partner used a condom. But to be on the safe side, I have taken an I-pill after 24 hours but within 72 hours. I had my periods 24 days back, and I have a cycle of 28 to 30 days. Do I have a chance of pregnancy? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. The I-pill is a very good emergency contraception with efficacy of nearly 98 % success rate. This drug prevents pregnancy if taken infrequently. As your periods started before 24 days, the chances of pregnancy are significantly less. In a 28 day cycle, the next period should come in time, and if delayed by four to five days, I suggest you get a urine pregnancy test done.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply. I am experiencing a slight spotting from yesterday, which I guess is not my period, and abdomen pain and dizziness. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is nothing to worry about it, as it is your withdrawal bleeding, and it should be considered a regular period. It also proves that you are not pregnant.

I hope you understand.

Thank you.
