Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My right eye has been mildly red and itchy for the past few days. However, after using eye drops, the redness subsided, but it is still swollen and puffy. I have been on medication for the last two days. After using Ofloxacin and Betamethasone sodium phosphate eye drops, the redness subsided; however, itching and swelling are still present. So my doctor prescribed me tablet Moxikind CV 625 twice daily, tablet Combiflam thrice daily, tablet Histafree 120 mg twice daily, Moxiflox eye drop five times a day, and Obra eye ointment at night. And later advised me to stop the eye drop. Kindly help.

Hello,

Thank you for your query.

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Earlier, you were using steroids, so it masked the initial symptoms. I suggest you to follow a few instructions. Continue your medications for a week. Avoid sharing towels, handkerchiefs, and pillow covers. Wash your hands and avoid touching your eyes and face. Use FML (Fluorometholone) eye drop thrice daily for three days. Use Moxifloxacin (antibiotic) eye drop six times a day for seven days. Use Obra (Tobramycin) eye ointment at night for seven days. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take medications with their consent. I hope this helped you. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been using the eye drops regularly, but the infection has not stopped. Along with the drops you suggested, I am also using ointment inside the eye. Is it the correct way to apply it? Now this infection has spread to the left eye. What could be the reason for this? Kindly help.

Answered by Dr. Rahul Vaswani

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It will take a couple of more days to clear out. The initial use of Betamethasone (Corticosteroid) has made it aggressive, but nothing to worry about. Put the eye ointment inside the lower eyelid. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
