Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My nose, wrist, hands, and private areas are all itching. Black, rough skin developed from extremely dry skin that initially looked like rashes. Before these problems, there was itching in the private region, usually at night. I recently applied 2% salicylic acid on only my nose, but not regularly. I will put it on my nose when the itching becomes worse, but after a day or two it will continue to itch. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Seborrheic dermatitis is the condition. Attach a clinical image of the groin region. It could be a tinea infection.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have attached my groin area photos. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I saw the picture (attachments are hidden to protect the patient's identity), and it is a fungal infection in the groin area called tinea cruris. Please follow the suggestions listed below:

  1. Apply 1 percent Luliconazole (Ketoconazole) cream twice daily in the morning and night for six weeks.
  2. Use Ketoconazole soap for baths for one month.
  3. Tablet Levocetirizine 5mg at night after food for ten days if itching is present.
  4. Apply Abzorb dusting powder (Clotrimazole IP) after bathing in areas of sweating for one month.
  5. Avoid moisture, as moisture favors fungal growth.
  6. Keep the area clean and dry.
  7. Maintain proper hygiene as hygiene plays an important role in avoiding recurrence.
  8. Avoid friction.
  9. Avoid scratching and rubbing of lesions.
  10. Keep your nails short.
  11. Wear comfortable thin cotton inners.
  12. Avoid direct sunlight.
  13. Eat healthy and nutritious food.
  14. You can have carrots, papaya, watermelon, mango, berries, avocado, etc.
  15. Stay hydrated.
  16. Use a moisturizer like Cetaphil cream on the nose.

Follow up after six weeks.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
