Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing slight itchiness in my throat for the past one and a half months. I do not feel it at night while sleeping. In the morning, when I wake up and eat something, the itchiness or abrasion starts again. There is a slight redness in the throat and sometimes it pains feebly. When I cough sometimes the throat feels slightly scratched and it feels prickly when I take deep breaths. There is no problem with swallowing food and water. I have had issues with thyroid, and acidity problems as well. I am taking Pantosec and took 1 HCQS pill for Corona before this itching starts.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I need a few more details before we can come to a conclusion. Did you travel outside the country? Any contact with COVID positive patient? Did you take HCQS on your own or with a doctor's prescription? Have you completed the course? Do you smoke or drink? Is there throat pain or difficulty in swallowing or lump sensation? Is there chest congestion or difficulty in breathing or wheezing? Can you please take a picture of your throat with open mouth showing details of the back of the throat and send me? I want to see the area which you said is red. Please answer my questions to help you further.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I did not travel outside the country nor had any contact with COVID positive patient. I took HCQS on my own and took only once. I do not smoke or drink. I do not have any throat pain or difficulty in swallowing or lump sensation and no difficulty in breathing. I have slight itching when I take deep breaths. Then if I forcibly cough out I feel better.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for providing the picture and the details. (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Your throat looks fine, no much of redness. There is no sign of infection or cancer. I am suggesting some medicines. The problem is mostly due to acid reflux and local inflammation. You need to take a medicine that will reduce the acid production and inflammation. You should avoid gargles, cold foods, spicy, oily, and bitter foods. Avoid citrus fruits also. You can take curd, but warm it a bit and let it not be bitter. Take tablet Raciper 40 (Esomeprazole), 1 tablet before breakfast for seven days, and tablet Montair FX (Montelukast and Fexofenadine Hydrochloride), 1 tablet at 7 PM daily for seven days. Do revert back after seven days. Do not stop the medicines until you get a consult from us. The scratchy throat issue may take more than a week to get completely alright. But follow all the precautions I have mentioned. Do revert back if you need any further support. Some symptoms to watch out for are cough, fever, difficulty in breathing, severe headache, and chest pain. Have an eye on your symptoms.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the prompt reply. I will start the medication today. Till now, I was taking some other medication prescribed by a doctor which did not provide any relief. My problem has magnified a bit. If I speak in a loud voice or talk too much to someone, then my voice becomes hoarse and the throat becomes scratchy. Then if I forcibly cough a little, it feels better. Honey and cofsils are helping a bit. It has been going on for too long. This was the medication I took for the past three days. Deslor 5 mg and Cefolac 200.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for taking a picture of the throat again. (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Although there is mild redness, no need to worry. You have already completed a course of antibiotics and so no need for any more antibiotics. Take the medicines I suggested. Give your self some time for it to heal completely. Avoid talking for a couple of days. Do not speak in loud voices or in whispers. Do not speak in unnatural frequencies. Drink plenty of warm water. No need to gargle much. You can use honey and cofsils if they are helpful.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
