Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I started using Nizoral on my face over the past four days, and I think it is irritating my skin. I am getting small red bumps on my forehead, and I do not know if this is normal. The symptoms are getting worse.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Do not worry. You have developed a reaction to Nizoral (Ketoconazole - 1%). Ketoconazole can cause allergies to the skin, like redness, itching, and tiny bumps. Stop applying Nizoral on your face. Instead, I suggest applying Hydrocortisone 1% cream on the face in a minimal quantity for five days. Then, use a mild cleanser to wash your face and apply moisturizer to the face. If it is severe, you might need a short course of oral steroids for three days, but I can only suggest it after assessing the severity of the allergy. If it is too much, please share a photo so I can suggest treatment accordingly.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
