Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from this knee pain for four months now. Whenever I am trying to walk, I am experiencing so much pain in my kneecap. I have consulted many doctors but in vain. I can barely walk about now. I have to sit most of the time. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. Pain in the knee cap can be due to various possible reasons depending upon the age of the patient. In young active patients under 30 years of age, it is usually due to cartilage degeneration between the knee joints which causes the pain. However, in patients above 30 years of age, it is usually a sign of early stages of osteoarthritis of the knee joint which causes pain. As you have had this pain for 4 months, a differential diagnosis of infection will have to be ruled out. I will be needing more details about your issue to provide you with better treatment and remedies. Please reply back with answers to these questions-

1. How bad is the pain from 1 to 10? (1 lowest, 10 unbearable)

2. Do you get relief after sitting or while sleeping?

3. What activities caused increased pain and when do you not feel any pain?

4. What is your exact age?

5. What type of job do you do?

6. Do you have any other diseases or taking any medicines right now?

7. How much is your weight?

8. Did you have any injury or fall four months ago?

9. For how much distance can you walk?

10. For how long can you stay standing in one place?

I will be happy to help you out, awaiting your response.

Thank you.
