Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother is 53 years old with a hemoglobin level of 11.0 g/dL and a white blood cell count of 7,700 microliter per blood. Her neutrophil percentage is 58 %, lymphocyte percentage is 28 %, monocyte percentage is 0.1 %, eosinophil percentage is 13 %, and basophil percentage is 0 %. Her total immunoglobulin E level is 1189 IU/mL, and her erythrocyte sedimentation rate is 57 mm/hr. I would like to know her possible problem and request a proper solution as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

This case has two main problems: left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) and a high eosinophil count.

For LVH, high blood pressure may be the reason. An appropriate medication should be started after a thorough examination, if necessary. Regarding the high eosinophil count, clinical correlation is necessary. If there are any specific allergies or other complaints present, please mention them. Eosinophilia can have different causes, including allergies, asthma, parasitic infections, and certain skin problems.

Treatment for eosinophilia will depend on the underlying cause. For example, a combination drug like Montelukast (leukotriene receptor antagonists) and Fexofenadine (antihistamines) (ALLEGRA M) can be prescribed for allergies. For parasitic infections, a drug like Albendazole may be needed. Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take the medications with their consent.

If there are symptoms such as breathlessness, a history of allergies, asthma, or skin diseases, please also provide that information. I recommend consulting a pulmonologist or physician for a thorough examination and further workup if necessary.

I hope your concerns are resolved.

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
