What could be the reason for recurrent sharp pain in the lower abdomen after getting treated for vaginosis?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a LEEP two months ago. I am 26 years old. I had a BV infection after both the colposcopy and LEEP. Medicine cleared those up. However, two months post-procedure, I still have sharp pains in my lower abdomen that radiate through my vagina randomly. I notice this when starting to be intimate, after working out, etc. I have not used tampons or had sex yet since. I also have extreme bloating that has not gone away post-op. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to the icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Your symptoms suggest vaginitis; it is mainly due to a fungal infection. Keep the area dry and clean, drink a lot of warm water and a soft diet, and use antifungal medicine and cream for application. I would suggest the following:

  1. Wear cotton undergarments.
  2. Include curd in the diet and reduce the usage of sugar.
  3. Do not wash your vagina frequently with water.
  4. Check your blood sugar.

The persistent pelvic pain could be due to a cyst, fibroid, or polyp.

I would suggest getting a pap smear, pelvic ultrasound, and MRI pelvis for the same.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
