Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have gone for a skin scrape test. Could you please explain to me the test results that read "sections show rare small junctional nests of melanocytes associated with dermal nests and cords of similar cells showing architectural symmetry, maturation, and no cytological atypia"? Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. The report indicates that you have melanocytic nevus cells at the junction of epidermis and dermis as well as in the dermis. These cells are benign as there is no evidence of cytological atypia, meaning there is no evidence of any malignancy or melanoma. It is most likely a case of benign compound melanocytic nevus. I hope this helps. Kindly revert in case of further doubts. Take care.
