What is the reason behind the severe menstrual cramps since I was thirteen?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been suffering from severe menstrual cramps since the age of thirteen. I feel cramps on the first three days of my period every month. A doctor suggested Fertiova medicine before the arrival of periods to permanently get rid of cramps. I did the same for the last month, but cramps are still there, and it is severe like before. I have done my thyroid test and ultrasound. What should I do? Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. I would like you to upload your USG (ultrasonography), blood reports, thyroid reports that you have done, and a new thyroid report. I suggest doing your blood CBC (complete blood count) to know if you are anemic. Do not worry. Pain during periods occurs in about 50 % of girls, which is a good sign only. It occurs mainly in cycles where eggs are released from the ovary. After delivery, it usually goes when the uterus and its opening relax, and blood flow is more effortless.

I suggest:

1) Tablet Meftal-Spas (Dicyclomine and Mefenamic Acid) twice daily after food for three days at the onset of periods.

2) Tablet Pan 40 (Pantoprazole) twice daily, one hour before food for three days.

Please get back with the results.
