Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I do not get my period regularly for five months. Four months back, I had a period only for four days.

Last month, on the second day of my period, a big blob of blood came out of my body. I was very confused as to what it was. I did my research and I thought may be it is related to miscarriage, but I am a virgin so I do not know how can I have a miscarriage.

I do not know what is going on with my body and my period has still not come this month. I was waiting for it to show up again.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As per your description, the blob-like thing that came out of your body could have been an endometrial polyp.

The irregular periods could be due to polycystic ovaries that cause thickening of the endometrium which may lead to polyps.

You also need to rule out thyroid disease.

I would recommend getting an ultrasound and thyroid function tests done.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for your response.

However, I have been to the doctor a few years back for painful periods and, they did an x-ray but they did not see anything wrong with it.

Do you think the polyps could have been formed in these past few years?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, the polyp could have formed in these years, but PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) or polyp are not seen in an x-ray. Ultrasonography is required for their diagnosis.

It is something benign and treatable.

You need not worry about it but you need to get the investigation done so that treatment can be started.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
