Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Can you help me understand if my behavior is related to ADHD or if it is just my personality? I have difficulty staying still and fidget with my legs often. I can alternate between being highly productive one day and procrastinating the next. When I was younger, I would interrupt my teachers by giving incorrect answers. My clothing tends to be disorganized, with piles of clothes accumulating in one corner on some days, while other days my room would remain very clean. I dislike doing laundry and prefer to stay in bed watching online videos, even if I have a challenging exam approaching. I also tend to zone out frequently. While I feel confident in my English abilities, I sometimes struggle to keep up with video or live lectures, and it can feel like my brain is not functioning optimally.

Thanks, and regards.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for seeking help from a psychiatrist. Based on your situation, it seems that you may be experiencing mood swings rather than ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). I recommend following the below guidelines to manage your symptoms:

  1. Engage in daily exercise for at least 30 to 45 minutes, such as going for a walk.
  2. Practice daily meditation for 20 minutes by sitting in a comfortable position and focusing on your normal breathing. Allow your thoughts to come and go without judgment.
  3. Eat healthy, home-cooked meals and avoid junk food. Drink plenty of water.
  4. Spend quality time with friends and family every day.
  5. Pursue creative hobbies like reading, writing, painting, drawing, or learning new skills, languages, or musical instruments.
  6. Get seven to eight hours of sleep every night and try to maintain a consistent sleep schedule.
  7. Avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  8. Live your life boldly and confidently.
  9. The investigations to be done are complete blood count, thyroid profile, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin D.

If your symptoms persist even after following these guidelines for four to six weeks, I recommend consulting with your nearest psychiatrist to rule out depression.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Thank you.
