Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I need to collect blood samples of my son, who is autistic. He is not cooperating even after sedation. Need advice about some good and safe sleeping or anesthetic drugs to complete the blood collection.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for your query.

I understand your concerns. Midazolam nasal spray will be helpful for the child if you are in hospital, a doctor who is well versed with Midazolam can give intramuscular injection. 3 to 5 mg will be needed. You can also try Chlorpheniramine Maleate containing cough syrup; 30 ml orally can be given. It takes some one hour time for the patient to sleep. Midazolam injection can be given by an anesthetist if available. It is better if he is fasting for at least six hours, even without water.

Kindly follow up for further assistance

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

can we try Chlorpheniramine Maleate containing cough syrup on our own? If so, kindly suggest which medicine. Also, the quantity should we give.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Are you referring to th Levocloperastine Chlorpheniramine Maleate cough syrup?

Are you in the hospital? It needs a prescription. Please consult a doctor nearby.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Can I arrange for a doctor to visit my house during this process and finish the blood collection? Accordingly, I will ask the blood-collecting person to come. It would be of great help. Kindly help if possible. Taking my autistic son to the hospital is very difficult. I want to avoid taking him to a hospital just for blood collection. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

What tests need to be done? Which doctor prescribed the tests? Please take him to a hospital; the procedure is not safe at home.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

We tried Zolpidem 10 mg as per the doctor's advice but failed. During the process, he woke up & created an issue. So fine, we will plan to go to the hospital then.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is better in the hospital settings. Please take help of anaesthetist. Zolpidem will not help. Proper sedation with Midazolam is possible.

Kindly follow up for further assistance.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
