Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 39 years old. I have pressure on the left temple and numbness for ten days. But no other symptoms. It begins from the upper ear until the left temple sometimes it affects the upper cheek. I have anxiety and stress. Could it be something serious? It does not reduce with Paracetamol. What treatment can I take?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Sorry to know regarding your problems. There is pressure in the left temple for ten days. Is the pressure associated with nausea or vomiting? Is the pressure throbbing in nature? Are there any aggravating factors for this pressure? How do you sleep and eat these days? When do you have maximum pressure? Do you feel like resting in a dark or quiet room?

You can take tab Aleve (Naproxen) 500 mg when you have a lot of pressure. It does not seem to be serious. Please answer the above questions so that I can correctly diagnose you and clear your doubts. Most commonly, the pressure is because of migraine, and migraine is linked to anxiety and stress. Migraine can be controlled with regular medicines and avoiding the triggers of migraine. Common migraine triggers are heat, less sleep, staying hungry for a longer time, car or bus traveling, sometimes before menstrual periods. I will get back to you after your answers.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

No nausea or vomiting. It comes and goes. Some days I do not feel this pressure, some days, it is throughout the day, but it does not hurt. It is more annoying, like numbing. I sleep and eat well. I work many hours on the computer and some nights I sleep for five or six hours. The neurologist said to me that is perhaps a panic attack and gave me Zanax half 0.25. But it does not solve the issue.

What is the treatment for migraines? I am hungry and want to eat desserts more. Can I take Augmentin or Mesulid?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It most likely sounds like a migraine. Panic attacks will be associated with symptoms like heart pounding, sweating, and uneasiness in breathing.

Migraine treatment is tablet Ciplar LA (Propranolol) 20 mg once daily with breakfast, Aleve (Naproxen) 500 mg whenever required. Augmentin is an antibiotic for skin infection, nails, fever, and other signs of infection. Instead of Mesulid (Nemusulida), you can take Naproxen 500. In certain countries, Ciplar will not be available without a doctor’s prescription. Please check.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Three days ago I did MRI head clear with little (5 mm) high signal foci both sides. Unspecified reasoning. Is something to worry about? I went to the hospital and asked the neurologist. She said nothing to worry, but I worry because I read in internet that those could be caused due to serious things. She gave me Zanax day and night because I am stressed and I am better. When I think of it I start to feel cramps to the temple and in front of ear. I also did MRI angiography and said that I do not have TMJ. Also I have left carotid smaller and Willis circle from birth. I checked with triple of carotids. What could the foci be? Can these cause my symptoms? I cannot sent you MRI as it is Greek language.

Hello,

Welcome back to iCliniq.com.

Good to hear from you.

High signal foci on both sides which are 5 mm actually are not concerning because they are fine if it is on both sides and they are because of Migraine.

Since the symptoms are on the temple and MRI does not show any big lesion so we are all good.

Zanax (Alprazolam) should be taken for a month and then stopped slowly. Deep abdominal breathing exercises will help you. Did you take Naproxen tablet?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

No, I did not take Naproxen because it is not migraine. They said that from panic attack and anxiety these cramps are in the left face. But, now with Xanax I feel better. In the angiography, they did not see anything in the nerves. That is why I think it is from stress attack.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The best thing to treat panic attack is to first find out the cause of panic attack and then after finding out the cause of attacks to face the situation slowly.

Normal angiography is good news. Xanax is good but please do not take it more than 15 days. Please let me know if there is any other thing that I can help you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Can these little focis cause MS? Today I feel numb in left leg and I am afraid of having something like that. Would it be visible from the MRI I had last week?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Lesions of multiple sclerosis on MRI are typically found in specific white matter areas, such as the periventricular and juxtacortical regions, corpus callosum, infratentorial regions (particularly the pons and cerebellum) and the spinal cord (preferentially the cervical segment).

The clinical features are not just numbness, it also very commonly involves the vision a condition called as optic neuritis in which there is pain in the eye along with diminished vision. Is the numbness continued or has it gone?

Yes, MRI will definitely show MS (multiple sclerosis) because MS is a chronic thing. So, please do not worry you do not have it. Please feel free to ask any other queries.

Patient's Query

Thank you for your reply doctor,

I am better now except I have some days of blood pressure when I scared about health. Today I started to cut the Xanax and had blood pressure 10 with 16. I think that I must take for 15 days as the doctor said. I do not want to be addicted to it. What can I do? .

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

To avoid getting addicted after 15 days, cut the tablet into half and take it half on one day and next day full for 10 days and then everyday half tablet for 10 days and then skip one day and other day take only half tablet and after that stop it completely. This is a good way of not getting addicted to Xanax.

Check your blood pressure on the morning and evening for a week and take an average of those readings.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
