Patient's Query

Hi,

I am a 23 year old female. I am not pregnant, but my period has suddenly stopped from the last month. I have found that my hemoglobin is very low at 7. Please give me your valuable advice.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You need to confirm the absence of pregnancy by getting a serum beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) test done. This is because urine pregnancy test does not detect minute pregnancy and treatment for a pregnant and a non-pregnant patient is entirely different. If your blood pregnancy test is negative, then we will give you withdrawal with progesterone to induce menstruation. Hormone profile and thyroid prolactin levels must be done to get to the root cause of missed period. Also, get the following investigations for low hemoglobin. Peripheral smear, serum iron and vitamin B12 levels. I suggest tablet Albendazole just once and start Iron supplement. Consult your doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicine with consent. Please do review with the report, so I could help you further.

Investigations to be done

1. Serum beta hCG. 2. Peripheral smear. 3. Serum ferritin. 4. Serum vitamin B12.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
