Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My partner noticed some red pimples with a white head on her left buttock. A few weeks ago, she noticed the same on her right side. She is 24 years old. Her weight is around 140 pounds, and her height is 5 feet 4 inches. I can provide pictures and more details as required. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for the query. Please send the details like duration, symptoms, site, distribution, symptoms in other members of the family, clear photos of the lesion, and any other information that you may wish to mention. I will try to help you. Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply. She is having this for about two months. The pimple is not itchy. She tried to squeeze some of them from which she gets a white solid fat following by some blood. They are a little raised, and she can feel them. She noticed them after going to a massage spa. I am not aware of her family history, but it is present all over her buttock, even in the deep region. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for the follow-up query. I have gone through the two photos (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). With the given details, it may be molluscum contagiosum. Other conditions like folliculitis and epidermal lesions have to be ruled out. Please consult your doctor for a thorough assessment, examination, and management. Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply. She went to her doctor, and he said it was due to molluscum contagiosum. He recommended two medicines whose pictures I have attached below. But he did not recommend any specific examination. And we still wonder what the cause is. So please suggest what investigation is needed in this case and the main cause as she is an adult? Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for the query. A local examination is usually enough to diagnose molluscum contagiosum. The molluscum contagiosum virus causes it. If your doctor has examined and advised, then you can follow your doctor's instructions and treatment. It can be transmitted by skin-to-skin contact or as STDs (sexually transmitted diseases). Prevent its spread to others. It may resolve on its own in a few weeks. If she has any other pre-existing illness or disease, please consult your doctor for its treatment too. Otherwise, follow proper hygiene and your doctor advice and treatment. Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
