Hello doctor,

I am having upper stomach pain, nausea, loose stools, fatigue, gas. I had one episode of vomiting (regurgitation) about five days ago, and the symptoms all went downhill from there. I am taking Aspirin, Zoloft, Prednisolone, Cellcept, Hydroxychloroquine, Amlodipine and Clonidine. I have lupus (SLE), anxiety, and GERD. I am also 18 years old and 200+ lbs.

The symptoms that you mentioned are consistent with acute gastroenteritis. Please follow the following diet, take the following medicines and do the following investigation.

Diet: BRAT diet which is short for banana, white rice, apple sauce and white toast (bread). Stop eating all vegetables and fruits except bananas and potatoes. Drink ample fluid. Avoid dairy products, caffeine drinks, spicy food, food from outside, fried food, sweets. You can eat poultry or meat but cooked blandly. When you start to get better, introduce normal diet bit by bit.

Feco-oral.

Investigations to be done

Stool analysis, stool C and S.

Probable diagnosis

Acute gastroenteritis.

Treatment plan

1. ORS one sachet in 1/2 cup water every four hours for four days. 2. Metoclopramide (Primperan) tablets one tablet two times a day for three days. 3. Eucarbon (Carbon) tablet two tablets three times a day after food for five days.
