Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It seems that you have symptoms secondary to acid in the stomach. It is possible that you might have something in your food four days back which has caused this.

I suggest you some treatment for now but want that you should provide the following information. Because below information will give me an idea of the possible underlying cause for your symptoms and help me to guide you for the suggested duration of taking the treatment.

Do you take alcohol or do you smoke? Do you have abdominal pain or diarrhea? Do you have a past history of similar symptoms? I see your weight is on the higher side, does this weight increase in the recent past? Are you on some regular medication? For anything? For any weight reduction treatment? Do you walk regularly? Or do you have a sedentary lifestyle? Does this burning ever occurred midnight causing you to awake from sleep? Any cough, sore throat, or sore taste of mouth? Any skin allergies?

Let me know answers to the above questions then I would be in a position to guide you and give a long term treatmnt plan. For now, I suggest you the following treatment.

The Probable causes

GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Functional dyspepsia. Motility disorder of esophagus.

Treatment plan

Cap Esomeprazole 40 mg half an hour before meals, syrup Gaviscon 15 ml four times daily after taking meals, tablet Ondansetron 8 mg thrice daily half hour before meals. All for two weeks times.

Regarding follow up

Follow up as advised.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

So now, I can figure out the reason for your recent onset symptoms. Since you do not have similar symptoms in past, it precludes the diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). This recent onset of your symptoms seems to be an abrupt increase in the acid surge within your stomach. The common reason for this is food poisoning, you probably have something terrible in your diet a few days back which has lead you to this.

Secondly, our stomach acid production is a continuous process which decreases and increases itself and frequently respond for given our environmental changes, climate changes, sleep patterns, food, and water. Kindly start the treatment as I suggested and let me know in the next 48 to 72 hours.

I hope that your problem will solve by that time after starting the treatment. Furthermore, you did not tell me about any recent change in diet, or had something that you were not sure of?

Treatment plan

Capsule Esomeprazole 40 mg half an hour before meals, syrup Gaviscon 15 ml four times daily after taking meals, tablet Ondansetron 8 mg thrice daily half an hour before meals. All for two weeks times.

Regarding follow up

Follow up after 48 to 72 hours.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Due to heavy work, I skipped my afternoon meals for five days. How many times I have to take Esomeprazole (proton pump inhibitor) 40 mg in a day?

Answered by Dr. Ajeet Kumar

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You should take only once in a day. Half an hour before meals or breakfast. I hope you will feel an improvement within the next two days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
