Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a disc problem in my neck area on the right side. There are thickness and difficulty in moving the neck in the rightside and there is a sound if I move my neck to the right. Nerves in the neck seem tight when I swallow, and I also have a thickness in backside of the jaw. I have an MRI report. Doctor advised me some tablets but it does not cure my problem. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Do you have radicular pain or tingling or numbness in any of your upper limb?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, I have.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

So this is the most important thing which you have not mentioned in your query. Now tell me two things, when you keep your hand above your head, then do you feel some relief or not? What medications are you taking now because this prescription is almost a year old (attachment removed to protect patient identity)?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I do not have any relief while lifting my hands above my head, and I am not taking any medicine currently.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

So that is a nerve pain due to compression at your cervical spine. Most of the patients respond to conservative management. Start capsule Pregabalin 75 mg twice a day. Also for neck pain, start tablet Zerodol-TH (Aceclofenac and Thiocolchicoside) twice a day. The dose of medications needs to be titrated. So you should be willing to stay in regular follow up with me.

Physiotherapy, get SWD (short wave diathermy) or IFT (inter ferential therapy) for neck pain and TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) therapy for radicular pain. Also, do isometric neck exercises for 5 minutes twice a day. You have to maintain good posture habits. Do regular walking for 45 minutes at a stretch daily.

Remember, these things take time to improve and for medications you have to be in my regular follow up as we need to adjust dose accordingly.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
