What are the ways to reduce my belly fat?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I want to reduce my stomach fat and get a flatter belly. I have also been experiencing a bellyache for the past six months. How can I manage this?

Kindly advise.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Excess belly fat around the waist can increase the risk of several health problems. A waist measurement above 40 inches in men and 36 inches in women is considered obesity.

I would suggest the following measures:

  • Track your daily calorie intake by keeping a food diary.
  • Reduce carbohydrates and unhealthy fats to help lose weight.
  • Increase protein, fiber, vegetables, and fruits in your diet.
  • Replace white rice and white bread with brown rice and whole-grain bread.
  • Drinking coffee in moderation may help boost metabolism.
  • Include about three cups of green tea daily to support fat burning.

Exercise tips:

  • Do cardio exercises (like walking, cycling, or jogging) for 30 to 40 minutes at least five days a week.
  • Add muscle-strengthening exercises, focusing on the abdominal area, to tone muscles and improve metabolism.
  • Three weight loss pills are also available, like Orlistat and Phentermine.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.

Thank you.
