Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 20 years old. Currently, I am having obsessive thoughts and I find it hard to control the thoughts. I have fears and getting anxious that something might happen to me. But I am trying to convince myself. I am seeking help from a psychiatrist to know more about my condition. I have ear problems and mitral valve prolapse. Currently, I am taking Propanolol. I have not checked my ear problems.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and so you are having distressing obsessive thoughts. OCD is a quite resistant illness that involves serotonin. It is a kind of chemical produced in the brain. Usually, antidepressants are taken to increase the level of serotonin in the brain. Antidepressants are required in high amounts as OCD symptoms are more resistant than depression. I suggest you consult a psychiatrist and have talk therapy. It is called exposure and response prevention. It is a kind of cognitive behavior therapy. It will help you definitely.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
