Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have noticed that sometimes I see rotating or spinning fan-type things on my left side of vision. It looks like two dots of spinning fans or something rotating in my left side vision. It happens for a few seconds, like 20 to 30 seconds, and then my vision becomes normal. I feel dizziness when it happens, maybe because I get very anxious because of anxiety. I have also noticed that it happens when I am anxious. Can it be a panic attack or eye problem or just dizziness? What can this be? I am really tensed.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms could be related to a panic attack. Anyway, I would recommend consulting an ophthalmologist to exclude an eye disorder, because it happens only on one side.

A brain MRI may be necessary, too, as the left side vision is controlled by the right brain hemisphere (half-side).

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I can see this in my side vision but even if I close my left eye I can feel spinning type thing. Also, if I close my eyes, I can feel it. I got my retina tested it was normal four months back. Can it be due to any tumor? My CT scan and MRI of brain was normal before three years?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understood your concern and would explain that your symptoms are not suggestive of any brain tumor. So try to relax and do not worry about it. If you had such complaints for three years and your brain MRI resulted normal, I think there is no need to repeat it. I would recommend checking thyroid hormone levels for possible thyroid gland dysfunction.

I do not think this is anything serious. If your thyroid hormone levels are normal, I would conclude that anxiety is the main cause of your complaints.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Actually, there was no symptom at that time, and I was getting panic attacks and was having anxiety disorder and headaches, so I got MRI. It was normal. Now can it be dizziness due to anxiety and stress or a brain tumor or brain's serious disease. Can I repeat my MRI as it has been three years now?

Answered by Dr. Aida Abaz Quka

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I think that a new MRI will result in normal. Anyway, I would recommend performing a new one to put your mind to peace, as nothing serious is going on. Anyway, there is no tumor that can mimic this situation.

In my opinion, this situation could be related to anxiety or thyroid gland dysfunction. I recommend checking thyroid hormone levels for this reason.

In case of any further uncertainties, please let me know if I can assist you further.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
