Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Two months ago I started feeling paresthesia, numbness, and prickling all over the body. FBC (full blood count) is normal, I feel fine apart from constant paresthesia.

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

1. Provide other detailed histories like cardiac history, diabetes, hypertension history, liver problem or anemia problem.

2. Provide me with any report if done.

Let me know your common causes for paresthesia:-

1. Diabetic neuropathy.

2. 12 deficiency-induced neuropathy.

3. Nerve compression (radiculopathy).

4. Thyroid issue.

5. Smoking history.

6. Vascular damage.

7. Spinal causes like disc prolapse.

8. To find the cause and then treat it accordingly. Usually poly vitamin and vitamin B complex treatment is needed. If cyanocobalamin injection is administered due to a B12 shortage, you may be urged to pursue the investigation as your primary course of treatment.

a. Serum B12.

b. Blood sugar.

c. CT scan if spinal problem suspected.

d. CBC (complete blood count).

e. TSH, T4.

f. Color doppler only if needed.

g. NCV (nerve conduction velocity) nerve study only if needed.

Accordingly, further specific treatment will be given. For example - If nerve compresses present than Pregabalin medication or decompression surgery might be needed.

Thank you for consulting me.
