Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have pus discharge from a white lump on my scrotum. What should I do about it?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As per the history and image provided (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), it appears as a sebaceous cyst of the scrotum. Sebaceous cysts are common cystic lesions on various body parts, including the scrotum. They are usually harmless and appear slightly soft on touch with a cystic outer layer. They are formed due to sebum deposition in the hair-containing areas, resulting in cystic lesions containing mostly a whitish material. They present with itching, discomfort, and sometimes redness and pain. Inflammation and superinfection are complications of the cyst which can cause problems. Therefore treatment is necessary for sebaceous cysts. The only treatment for a sebaceous cyst is its removal by a surgeon. Apart from the same, in case of an infected cyst presenting with pain, redness, tenderness, and inflammation, I suggest you do the following. Take Capsule Keflex (Cefalexin) 500 mg twice daily after food (morning and night ) for five days (make sure there is no history of allergy to any antibiotics before consuming this capsule. If there is an allergic history, kindly avoid consuming them). Take Tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg twice daily before food for five days prevents acidity from the antibiotic. Warm cloth fomentation may be applied twice daily on the lesion. First, apply lukewarm water with a cloth for five minutes and clean. However, the mainstay of treatment for any sebaceous cyst is the removal of the cyst via excision (surgical removal) done by a general surgeon. Therefore, kindly consult a surgeon in person for its removal. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
