Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I feel like I do not have my own identity. I always depend on other's opinions. Whomever I am with, I often imitate their personality, expressions, and the way they talk. I noticed this by myself over the last few weeks. I realized that I am a boring person because I always wait for the other one to talk. Also, another problem of mine is that I have social anxiety. Even though I know the person from years, I still feel awkward and nervous when I talk. I can see it with the way my best friends react. They feel uncomfortable around me. Or probably it is just me thinking that way. I think I am this way because of the issues in my house. My family members seldom talk to each other.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From your description, it seems that you might be harboring traits of an anxious avoidant personality. People with these traits have difficulty in socializing, making friends, and expressing themselves. They always seek others to start a conversation with them. They hesitate to take initiatives. Besides this, they are emotionally deprived and have a tendency to develop depressive symptoms later in their lives. I suggest you seek a therapist as early as possible so that your personality traits can be identified and can be modified before it is too late to start with. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
