Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My wife is suffering from a severe cold, headache, and throat pain. Can she take Paracetamol, antibiotics, and Cetirizine? We are planning for pregnancy, using medicine for it. This is her 12th day after the period.
What can we do?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Your wife is having a sore throat problem, and the cause is an acute pharyngitis case. You can give her Levocetirizine 5 mg OD (once daily) for five days. For throat pain, Paracetamol 500 mg SOS (whenever needed) can be prescribed.
Also, give her a vitamin C 500 mg tablet BD (twice daily) for five days. Drink more water. Avoid excess spicy foods. If no improvement in three to five days, then we will do further workup up until then no need to use an antibiotic.
I hope this helps.
Take care.
