Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have missed my period. My last period was a couple of months back. I have been spotting extremely light. I see spotting once a day or none at all. I took a pregnancy test, and it came back negative. Is that normal? Could I be pregnant?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your concern and will surely help you. I request you help me with the following details to assess your condition better.

1) What is the exact date of your last menstrual period before two months?

2) Do you have any history of irregular periods?

3) Are you sexually active, and was your intercourse unprotected, or did you both adopt any birth control method?

4) Did you recently start any exercise or lifestyle changes, etc.?

Based upon the information already shared by you, my recommendations are:

If you were using a home pregnancy test, repeat the urine pregnancy test with the first urine of the day for an accurate result, do not drink too much fluid before the test, adhere to all guidelines written on the package, especially for the timing part. Sometimes, if it's early pregnancy, the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels remain low, giving a strong positive result in-home pregnancy test. If you face other pregnancy-associated signs like tender breast, fatigue, etc., you get a blood hCG test done in any nearby lab. Share the report to decide the way ahead based on your choice.

Feel free to ask any questions or to share any additional information.
