Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My wife missed her periods and is already 13 days late. She got a positive pregnancy test. She was feeling nausea and fatigue. She also got a brown spotting. We are recently married and not prepared for a child. If we terminate this pregnancy, will there be any complications in a future pregnancy? If we accept the pregnancy, then how to handle the situation? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Since it has been 13 days over the missed period, and she has got a positive pregnancy test, the pregnancy is confirmed. Although certain medicines are available at the pharmacy for pregnancy termination, they sometimes lead to excessive blood loss and incomplete termination.

I suggest you to get the termination done under the supervision of a doctor so that there are no complications.

Do not worry, I am always there for you.

Feel free to ask any questions or share any additional information.

Regards.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thanks for your suggestions doctor,

If we wish to continue the pregnancy, then what is the procedure, and how to do that? Please guide us.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Pregnancy is a commitment, and for that, you both have to be mentally, physically, socially, and financially ready to take up the responsibility. However, as you both were not prepared for the pregnancy, I am not sure whether you both are in a real sense prepared for having a baby and have the necessary preparation.

Secondly, now that you are already pregnant, you have to make sure that you can carry the pregnancy properly for nine months and deliver a happy and healthy baby. You also have to consider if you want to have a baby again and then after how many years of gap.

Generally, new parents undergo a reproductive life planning program or pre-pregnancy counseling, which guides and prepares them well for pregnancy. But, unfortunately, you did not get time for that and got pregnant without any planning.

Please understand that it is a commitment you are entering into, and there is no chance of not being prepared later. I suggest you both plan well and make a judicious decision. You may discuss this with your parents as well.

If you plan to continue the pregnancy, you need to visit an obstetrician and gynecologist who will perform some scans and guide you ahead.

Feel free to ask any questions or to share any additional information.

God bless.
