Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I took a prostate biopsy before three weeks. Out of 12 samples, one core biopsy sample showed high grade. I read on internet that it is a precancerous stage. My doctor gave multiple treatment options like conventional surgery or cyber knife or radiation oncology. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

From the report attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) it shows a high grade precancerous condition, so I suggest surgery. Because radiation has side effects. Before the surgery take PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test every month and repeat the biopsy after six months to decide the treatment plan.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

To my knowledge, radiation has less chance of infection and bleeding than surgery. Is this a pre-cancerous condition? Why should I wait for six months for the PSA test result? Will the PSA level increase?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Since it is a precancerous condition, you should wait and check your PSA every month and repeat the prostate biopsy after six months.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
